2003 G&L ASAT SPECIAL STRIPPED TRUSS ROD NUT.....
Good evening, So I went to adjust my truss rod on my newly bought used 2003 Asat and noticed my allen keys just do circles.. the nut is stripped... Does anyone know if these nuts are replaceable? or am I in trouble? I know I can probably get a machinist to get it out as long as it isn't welded to the rod... PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME IT'S NOT ATTACHED TO THE ROD.......

Brobb, a 2003 American model should have a 1/8 in allen size and can be removed and replaced. There are different ways of removing it but before installing the new nut, I suggest cutting a screwdriver slot across the top with a hack saw before installing, therefore if it happens again, it can simply be removed with a flat blade screwdriver. -- Darwin

It's strange because my Nut seems to be Metric.. 3mm.. 1/8 is just a bit to big for the allen key hole.. Where do I get replacement nuts for a 2003?

That is confusing as 3mm is larger than 1/8 in. -- Darwin Here is the link to the information you may need. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=43#p42

If so, it would be 1/8" otherwise it would be a 4mm wrench for mid-2006 to mid-2013. You can get a replacement nut from the G&L On-Line Store: REPLACEMENT TRUSS ROD NUT KIT ( 80' - 06' ) or REPLACEMENT TRUSS ROD NUT ( mid-2006 to mid-2013). Hope this helps.

Body says 2003... Not sure how I confirm if the neck is the original one or not... Talked with the guy I bought it off of and he said he just used whatever allen key seemed to fit... That might be where my problem is.. Just hoping a wrong threaded nut was not forced on by original owner... Guitar seems to have been tinkered with quite a bit.

Please post some photos of the guitar (front and back) and include a photo showing the serial number.
