What is body wood of G&L SC3

Fri Aug 05, 2011 3:36 pm

I just bought a G&L SC3 project guitar--had been stripped etc--missing pickups-- the wood is heavy and has some flame--does anyone know what wood these old bodies were made from?? Could the entire guitar be made from flame maple--

ok then thanks for the link--very helpful--it is for sure maple--not the lightest either--but flamey-it will be interesting to get this guitar back together.Got it yesterday--no frets and only pick up covers--body and neck and bridge--tremolo-is there and tuners--it has been stripped--neck is red----would it be sacriledge to do a tummy cut and forearm cut on this---since it has already been stripped and missing pickups--
