Two hole whammy bar bridge

Tue Oct 19, 2010 8:12 am

I have an late eighties Skyhawk with a particular bridge. I have never seen it before (blind ?). It has a whole for a bar at either side. Has anybody seen it before or could give me some more info ? Grtz from Belgium.

There were several incarnations of the fine tuner equipped Dual Fulcrum bridge assemblies,
a small amount of them had twin holes for the whammy bar, they are rare. You will see a few different variations of the bridge plate as well.

Here's one on an '88 Interceptor:

...and a different one on Comanche VI without the twin whammy holes:

...and a a rare Fine tuner twin vibrato with a rectangular bridge plate on an Invader:

My experience has been that every guitar I've played with a fine tuner equipped DFV has been stellar. I bet your Skyhawk is no exception...would love to see pics when you get a chance.

cheers

It's a first generation Leo fine tuner bridge. Looks like Elwood has provided pics of the different versions of these bridges. Nice pics! There's a bit of info on the web about it and one great resource is Greg Gaglino's site which shows a guitar probably similar to the one you have:

Hi Guys, thanks for the quick reply and the photos.
I took some photos but I still have to find out how to get them in.
It is a rectangular bridge anyhow. On the headstock there is also a metal plate but I think something fits on it to clam the strings.

That's probably either the Graph-Tech nut (or Leo's version of a "locking" nut) or are you referring to the metal string tree as on this early S500?

It is probably the graph tec nut not a string tree, it is placed just behind the nut.
Can I insert photos directly from my pc ?
Can't find any instructions on how to do it

You have to first upload them to photobucket or other picture hosting site,
...then copy the direct url address of the photo ,
...click on the "Img" button above the text box,
...and paste in the address (between the "img" tags)

Half way down this page are instructions for pics,

Here's a pic of the complete string lock assembly...looks like your just missing the two little nickel plates (not uncommon).

Other way around off course, I mean the photos. The body is june 87 and the neck may 86.
I am just curious if there was something to be mounted on the graph teck nut.

Our posts crossed each other. Do you think I can find these somewhere ?

they show up on Ebay from time to time and i think one or two of the collector types among us might have some of these laying around as well. you might want to post an ad in the marketplace and of course also register that nice look 'hawk at the same time.

I registered the guitar and placed the ad. Hope somebody has these lying in a drawer or so. Anyhow I started registering the guitars, I have thirty or more to follow. Thanks for the help.
