Where can I sell my 1984 G&L Cavalier?

Tue Jul 20, 2010 4:12 am

My father and I have had this guitar for years and now we have to sell it. :( I'm sad to see it go because it is so unique, but we must downsize our gear.

Let me know where a good place to sell this thing would be.

Thanks,

You can list it here in the marketplace if it's registered and try E-Bay, If you list the specs and post some pics I can help you determine a reasonable value.

I had someone offer me 1750 before (this was back in 2006) but I'm just trying to sell it not. Not as picky.

Thanks for you help and yes, give me a price that is fair that I should be asking. Thanks!

This is a tough one to price out, here are the pluses, Mahogony body with matching headstock is rare as most were ash bodied, there were also less built with the hardtail then the trem versions, the minus is the wear on the maple fretboard as these guitars are not well received by players but the collectors love them but collectors also are fussy regarding condition, to get the high dollor, condition matters. I think the 1750 you were offered was high but you never know untill you put it on the open market. I've sold two Cavs in the past, both ash bodied, the pickguarded version in very good + condition went for just under 1K and the very rare non pickguard hardtail guitar went for a bit over 1K. The market is down now compared to 06 and the only old G&Ls I see go for the big buck are at or near mint condition. I'd clean and polish the crap out of it, pull the neck to get it dated and get very good detailed pics of the condition and electronics. put it on the market and see what it will bring.
