My G&L S-500's serial is G04xxxx
it has PTB system(treble cut, bass cut control)?

p.s i think my guitar has produced at least 1996

Yes, it should have the PTB system.

Nice catalog picture. I had a custom S-500 made in 1998 that still has the "Patent Pending" DFV. The ones' in the picture show a newer version. I think the PU covers are older too. They are off-white, thicker w/ rounded edges. It appears to be a different plastic; like the old plastic from way back when. Remember? Just to be sure, I have examined other G&L's and they are thinner w/ sharp edges(IMHO "cheaper" looking). They should have kept the old way*...

* The older shiny plastic just looks "richer". There may be no other difference, but looks are a part too. Otherwise we would all be playing boards w/ strings.

Yes, my 1992 S-500 has the PTB system. Very effective.
