FZTNT wrote:Good score Chip. I seriously thought about going after this one but I already have one I picked up a little over a year that needs some refurb. Re-fret and setup really. It came from a Chinese pawn shop, I really think they had no idea what they had cause it was pretty cheep. The thing is, even without any work it sounded and played really well. I have not gotten around to re-fretting it yet cause I have not found a luthier I can trust with such a gem.
I did however get some very valuable info from Larry about how to re-fret this board. It seems that the frets were pushed in from the side with some contraption Leo invented for this purpose. If you pull them out straight up, which is the general practice, you can cause great damage to the ebony that cannot be fixed properly. the other good thing about my G-200 is that it is not in mint condition. It has been played but not abused so Idon't mind setting parts on it while doing work cause there are already quite a few scratches to blend in to.

BIG Congratulations!
Finding, and actually getting, one you have been looking for is a great feeling for sure. Good to see it staying in the G&L family, from Larry to you. Enjoy...
