Our friend Tony Hill has played his 1981 L-2000 for more than 30 years. Being a lefty, Tony played this heavyweight righty upside down and put rubber caps
over the pot shafts to make them more comfortable against his forearm than the original machined knobs. Though Tony loves this bass, he needed a change and
we had an idea. We're building him a proper lefty L-2000 that'll be much lighter, and swapping him for his '81. Here's Tony in Leo's lab, playing a farewell groove
before leaving this bass with us here on Fender Avenue. It's a homecoming we'll never forget. Thanks, Tony!

Our '81 L-2000 (thanks, Tony!) is just so sweet. Still haven't put some original CLF Research knobs on yet, though we can scrounge some up in Leo's Lab.

Finally installed some CLF Research knobs on Tony's '81 L-2000. These are old knobs I borrowed from Leo's lab. I think he wouldn't mind.

Tony's '81 L-2000. 11.4 pounds of glorious tone. The new CLF Research L-2000s are far lighter, like 8.x pounds.
But this old thing has a wonderful story and so much soul.
