Finding a G&L SC1

Mon Dec 01, 2014 7:10 am

Hi fellow G&L enthusiasts,

I am a huge fan of G&L (I played my ASAT Custom Classic as my only guitar for years professionally).

As it looks, I am embarking on a worldwide tour with an up and coming young artist that includes OZ and the US. So I have decided to try and find an SC1 hardtail guitar on my travels, as owning one of them have been a dream for years.

My question is, seeing as they are hard to find, where would one start looking? Aside from the classics (craigslist when we pull into town, Ebay, etc), are there any shops around the US where I could get lucky in finding one? Any sites that specialise in these?

My budget is around 1500 USD.

Any help in sourcing one of these lovly guitars will be greatly appreciated!

Best regards,

David Klinke

Check out the Public Service Announcements sub-forum and the Marketplace. Also, check out reverb.com, too.

Also, please read our Announcement post: Welcome! Read This First.
You will see that you should post a Want Ad in the Marketplace (not here).

Best of luck on your search for an SC-1. And, if you do score one, please do add it to our G&L Registry.

David,

I am not aware of any hidden sources. It is a very tight market, since there were only 250 SC-1s to begin with and many haven't survived three decades intact. They do show up for sale now and again though. I own two; one was listed by the previous owner in the GbL Marketplace, and the other came from a Guitar Center. I would keep a close (at least daily) eye on the big chains' used instrument websites, and also aggressively watch Craigslist. I found my SC-3 by randomly checking different cities' Craigslist sites one night when I couldn't sleep. It's rare, but it happens...

Thanks for the replies!

Craig, I apologise for not reading the guidelines before posting, I guess I got a bit overly excited finding this place.

I will post in the appropriate forum instead!

I've got a very nice SC1 that I think you're looking for.
I'm HLG and I know about these guitars.
Pleas PM me.

Larry.
