THE MOST INTERESTING LIST EVER (to some)

Thu Mar 06, 2014 1:37 pm

Dale Hyatt once told me he had sold the very first production Fender Telecaster out of the back of his station wagon to a fellow in California. Can't recall the name or city. He also told me that the guitar was returned six months later for a twisted neck. Of course they replaced the neck and then he said the neck was destroyed. Told me wouldn't that be something to have.
I realized that would be an amazing thing to have in the display, at the time who knew. Over the years I often heard individuals say they have the last guitar Leo Fender ever built. This also would be an amazing thing.
I've decided to compose a list of the last guitars Leo Fender built (to set the record straight) the day before, the day of, and the day after his passing. here it is.

Larry,

Thanks for posting this. Do you know by any chance what his last day in the factory was? I know he had a baritone prototype waiting for him on the day he passed. Did he work right up to the end?

More thanks for posting this, :happy0065:
That'll make G&L searches more interesting .
I think I'll go look at some serials of my G&L's past and present .

I first looked at my Skyhawk Sig. , it is G028420 ( close, but no cigar ) . I don't think I've looked at the neck pocket dates of that.

My ASAT Signature Bass has a body date of 3/19/91, and according to Darth it left the factory on 4/5/91.

I'm surprised that instruments were being completed on 3/21. It looks like the number was lower than the other days, and made up for on 3/22.

Larry,

I just checked and I have all those guitars. Just joshing you, I don't have any.

The list is kinda helpful for old collectors and such. Very nice being able to put the numbers with the dates. Give me a call next time you are in my area and lets have lunch.
