I've been looking at a first generation SC 2. Other than cosmetics, how do these differ from the current models? Are they the same scale? Do they have the same frets and fretboard radius? Will they feel and sound the same? Thanks.
There are many subtle differences between the current SC-2 and the mid-80s SC-2.
First generation SC-2Body woodMaple
Body shapeInitially Mustang, later changed to Strat. In both cases, slab body without contours.

Current SC-2Body woodAlder or Ash depending on finish
Body shapeMustang with contours, slightly thicker.
FingerboardChoice of 12" maple or rosewood. No other neck options available.

How does all of this affect the sound? I am the worn person to answer that because I never played a modern SC-2. All I can say that my Strat-shaped SC-2 is beautifully sounding guitar with very responsive volume and tone controls.
Hope this helps,
