Post Asat 3 pickups 1987
Hi,

My sister bought me an Asat in the States in the mid eighties.
It's serial number is 020353, built in 1987. Color is creamy white.
It has 3 pickups but I don't find any other Asats with those 3 pickups.
Just wondering if anyone knows if it's a special issue or not.
Has anyone else got one of those?
Love this guitar!

thanks

Welcome Eric,
That's a good sis' you have.
The serial #'s in the 80's start with a "G", look closely and you will probably
find yours to be G20353.

I would guess someone added a middle pickup since there wasn't any ASAT 'S' or Trinity's
around yet. Can you post a picture or three?

Elwood

Please post a photo of your guitar.

It sounds like it probably is an ASAT III, which first came out in 1988.
See the Registry Rarebirds page.
Also see these posts in the G&L Knowledgebase:

Production List of G&L Instruments (USA)
List of Regular Production ASAT-style guitars (USA)

Also check out the Gallery: Gallery > Instruments > ASAT and Broadcaster models for additional photos.

As Elwood mentioned, the Serial Number starts with 'G' and so it is likely G020353.

Hope this helps.
