Why the change in manufacturing location for the Tributes?

Post by Craig »

(from a response post by Darth Invader on January 19, 2007)

The company who builds the Tribute Series for us is still Cor-tek, maker of Cort brand and
many of the majors. We decided to move to their Indo factory as it's a much more modern
facility than their electric factory in the Seoul area and the quality is now equal for bolt-ons.
I think on average, we'll get higher quality as they were under a lot of price pressure in Korea
to serve this kind of price point. It's very much like the transition Japan went through in the
late 80's to early 90's. So, after a long time, many samples and a lot of deliberation, we
made the move to Cor-tek's Indo facility, which is really an incredible place.

So, we fully expect that the quality and consistency of the Tribute Series will continue to
improve, and what's more, because of lower duties on imports from Indo, we've actually
shrunk some prices.
