Help Figuring Out The Age of My G&L Asat Classic Bluesboy!

Fri Sep 04, 2015 6:25 am

Hello all,

I've been looking through this site and others trying to figure out the age of my G&L with no luck. I do know that it was manufactured sometime between 97-2011 (based on info I've found), but that's not too specific. Can someone please help me out? The serial number is CLF49872, with certificate of authenticity, etc. It has a sunburst body and headstock (I have not seen that in many other Asat Classic Bluesboys) and maple neck/fingerboard. The neck is attached with 4 bolts. I appreciate your help! Thank you!! I am new to this forum and am not exactly sure how to include pictures. I will post them if that helps!

Not sure how you missed this one which is in the G&L Knowledgebase: How do I determine an instrument's age?

For posting photos, general navigation and information of our site, see: Welcome! Read This First.

Hope this helps.

Thanks - I've been checking out the site/forum for a bit when I first traded an American Deluxe Strat for the G&L a couple years ago...the owner previous owner of the guitar wasn't sure of the age (he said 98, but that doesn't add up).

I've seen "How to determine an instrument's age) but it didn't help in accurately ID'ing and I don't feel confident taking my neck off (I love the current setup). I can't even find an Asat Classic Bluesboy with the same paint/finish as mine (Three toned sunburst body and headstock). Just weird, maybe I'm missing something...

Nick

Here are a couple images I took quickly with my phone - it should give you an idea of the guitar. Thanks for the help!

That's a beauty!

I did a search on our Registry using serial number range (CLF49800-CLF49899) and here are the results:

http://www.guitarsbyleo.com/AUTOREG/interact2.php3?registry_id=1&action=5&rpp=4&theyr=36&lowyr=1&highyr=36&snfilter=2&thesn=&lowsn=CLF49800&highsn=CLF49899&serial_num=&multpages=1&printer_fmt=1

Based upon this, I would say that it was built in 2008.
The matching headstock is an option (at extra cost).

BTW, standard production of the ASAT Classic Bluesboy started in 2001. See: Production List of G&L Instruments (USA).

Please do add this guitar to our G&L Registry.

Hope this helps.
