My 3rd G&L....I need help identifying this one.

Tue Jan 27, 2015 10:30 am

Greetings all. New member here. I own three G&L awesome guitars. Two Legacy USA models and I recently picked up an ASAT Classic from someone who liquidated there entire lot of music gear. I am not able to find another one exactly like it on the web or the G&L site. Someone suggested to me that this ASAT was a special order.....but I have no idea if that is true or not. The serial CLF34161. Anything you folks can tell me (year made and apx value) about my newest guitar would be great! It plays like dream, and I love it.

Can someone tell me how to add pictures in? I'll then post so you can see what I am talking about.

Thanks MUCH! Clint

There is a link to a tutorial in this post: Welcome! Read This First.

Looking forward to seeing your ASAT Classic.

It is an ASAT Classic Bluesboy. Here's the link to G&L's current Spec page: http://www.glguitars.com/instruments/US ... /index.asp .

It has the Redburst finish on Swamp Ash body. The neck is Birdseye Maple with gun-oil tinted glossy finish, both of which are upcharge options.
To determine the build date, see: Serial number significance.

Hope this helps.

That is one sweet Bluesboy with my favorite neck tint and Birds Eye to boot! -- Darwin

I was thinking that's what it was.....THANKS! So the birdseye neck would likely have been a special order or can one find those off the rack? With the options....what kind of price would y'all put on it in the original hardcase? I understand you would have to lay hands on it to get accurate price, but I thought some of you could ballpark it once the specs were revealed.

I just noticed that the original MFD bridge pickup has been replaced with some type of humbucker pickup.

This might help: Is there a good source for getting G&L instrument values?
But as I mentioned, the bridge pickup is not stock, so that will affect price. Perhaps others will chime in, too.

Yes.....I thought the pickups had been changed as well. Was pondering getting the original spec pickups and reinstalling them.

What was the neck pickup changed to? The stock pickup would be a potted Seymour Duncan Seth Lover HB.

If you planned to restore it to stock, see this in our Gallery: Album: ASAT Classic Bluesboy Picture Diagrams. You will notice that there needs to be a modified MFD bridge pickup.

Hope this helps.
