Post G&L Rampage - need help to identify it
Hi, I have a G&L Rampage not the Jerry signature one. Its different than most of the photos I have seen except of a clip of an ad of an 80's glam rocker. It has a serial number but I really dont know much more. Can anyone point me to some resources about it? The year of manufacturing etc?

Serial numbers were not used sequentially, but it is reasonable to expect that serial numbers within a range were likely produced around the same time. From the registry looking at sn +/- 200 on yours, I'd deduce the guitar is likely from around 1986. If you really want to know you can remove the neck and check the body and neck dates.

Cheers, Dan

The Rampage was one of a series of Super-Strats built in 1984-1991.
See this post: What are the specifications of the original G&L Rampage?
Also see these in our Ad Slicks and Memorabilia Gallery: Album: 1985 SuperStrats and Album: 1985 Pricelist.

Like Dan said, serial numbers were not issued in sequence, see: Serial number significance.

You might contact G&L Support and ask them if they can look up the serial number to get the build completion date and where it was shipped to. Here is the email address: repairs@glguitars.com.

The body color of yours is white and has aged to this cream yellow color.
The fretboard looks to be Rosewood, so that can narrow down the build years to be late 1987-1991.
Body wood is Soft Maple or Poplar.

Hope this helps.

I agree on the white finish and that a mid-'80s Rampage is most likely maple, but the board looks like it might be ebony to me. Those long streaks running along the treble side are typical of many mid-'80s G&Ls I've played or owned, which had unstained ebony fretboards.

thanks for all the info! My dad rescued it from a yard sale about 15 years ago and mostly I have just kept it in its case.
