NGD - G&L Comanche - High Res Pics :-)

Post by SixBladeKnife »

First time G&L owner. Big fan so far. Love the sound and the feel. Definitely doesn't sound like a strat! I can't figure out if it's alder or ash. It's mint or extremely close!

I like the fretboard markers, looks like some kind of black pearl. Anybody know what they call this?

Traded straight across for my 91 Les Paul Studio. I tried pricing the Comanche, but can't find on exactly like this. I'm guessing it's worth less than the new ones since the newer ones have quartersawn necks and maple caps. Would love any pricing info or estimates you guys have as to its value, though it will definitely stay in the fold for the foreseeable future.

Sweet! After seeing it in high-res, I agree with Craig that it's probably alder.

What a nice score!
You definitely did well with that trade. :happy0065:

G&L's black Paua shell inlays look really neat in maple, i agree.
Quarter-sawn necks and maple tops are optional extras; your guitar is no less classy than a modern one.
And Comanches are great. Great sounds and feel, and no noise; the pickup that Leo Fender had been working to perfect for many years.

Looks like a bi-cut to me. In no way inferior to a quarter sawn neck.

Thanks all!

Ed, I didn't know about the bicut necks. Thanks! I read up after seeing your comment. Super interesting.

Really loving this guitar. I play and EJ strat and a Newburg era Steinberger GM2T, but have played nothing but the Comanche since picking it up last week.

Your guitar is stunning to look at.

I picked up a used USA Legacy a few weeks ago for a ridiculously low price.
I can't believe someone parted with this. It's the best S style guitar I've
ever owned and I had several USA's from Leo first company.

Sounds like your trading counter party didn't realize what he was giving up either.
