I just installed a new Alnico 8" and new caps in my '58 Silvertone and the thing rocks. I got everything from Ted Weber's site. Makes me sorry I sold the '66 Fender Champ now.
Anyway, I have a 1980 or 81 Fender 75 with an Electro Voice 12" loaded in it and I hate that speaker. It sounds terrible. This amp can be switched from 15 to 75 watts so I want a speaker that can handle that. I'm thinking hemp cone here also. The ceramic offers more head room before it starts breaking up.
Does anybody here use ceramic speakers rather than Alnico? Opinions? Sonic difference?
