Recorded Music - Where to Buy?

Sat Feb 13, 2010 6:06 pm

Very frustrated shopping local for recorded music in the greater Charlotte NC area.

Used to be "big box" stores in the area that had every style of music. Example "Peaches".

Would appreciate comments on your favorite "record" shop.

Local or internet.

Thanks, Jamie

Whenever possible, I buy direct from the artist. Either from their website or the merch. table at a gig.

I was turned onto EBAY Half.com by a gal working at the local auto dealership.

We were discussing alternatives to expensive college textbooks.

Surprised the CDs are quite a bit less new or used than the the major online retailers.

Check it out.

Yeah, they all seem to have a common theme...

Was it cows? no, moose... is the plural of moose meese? wait I got it...

I always wanted a Z2 but never got off my duff fast enough to get one.

Amazon.com is good as far as MP3 downloads go. They are DRM free (play about anywhere).

I've bought CDs from ebay, half, and most recently from SecondSpin.com. Got Brian Wilson/Van Dyke Parks "Orange Crate Art", The Doug Pinnick Poundhound CD "Pineappleskunk", and finally, the uncensored DVD of R. Kelly "Trapped in the Closet". Pretty sure the whole haul was under $13 shipped.

We have the same problem around here (MD Suburbs). Good calls on buying direct, but I think of the "where to buy" question as where to have a shopping experience. For me, it's either Best Buy or an FYE (I think) in the mall.

I really miss my devoted record stores (and let's face it, Tower was KING). National Record Store day is coming up...
