Gary Rossington RIP

Sun Mar 05, 2023 8:46 pm

These seem to be coming to often these days. Gary Rossington was a force of the southern rock world. Saw him with Lynyrd Skynyrd a few times and even saw the short lived Rossington Collins band in 1981. His slide work added a lot to their sound.

First I heard of it.

Man, I'm feeling old with all these great guys stepping out.

Never got to see him live.

I'm just shaking my head.

RIP G.R

RIP Gary. Survivor he was and a great player.
1st slide song I ever played was of course Freebird in '77. I still have that slide!
Got to see Skynyrd at JFK stadium in Philly that year, the line up was Dickie Betts Great Southern/J Geils/Skynyrd/Peter Frampton.
Great day, great show, though Dickie Betts got pissed 1/2 way through "Blue Sky", kicked the monitor off the front of the stage and they walked off!
Skynyrd was a great band, I wore deep grooves in "One More from the Road" double live album.
