Refinishing project

Wed Apr 26, 2017 4:37 am

Hi guys, I just got my first Strat style guitar a '92 Peavey Predator and I'm honestly blown away at how much I like the guitar, how it sounds and plays. Although I'm thinking about few changes, the first one probably would be refinishing the guitar with some type of true/tung oil. I had a rough piece of sandpaper at home so I gently took some of the finish off off the neck as my fretting hand was sticking a little and to me it feels so much better already. I would appreciate you advice on how to take of the finish off effectively. I don't own any type of tools for this type of job, so it sure needs to be low cost. I don't mind if it requires "elbow grease". I believe the laquer on the guitar is the polyeurethan and the Predator has a maple fretboard. Thanks.
